Karpman & Associates provides ethics counsel to many law firms, in-house legal departments, and numerous governmental agencies. We advise many national law firms on advertising issues, entity status, and issues involving multi-jurisdictional practice. Diane Karpman serves as consultant, advisor or expert witness in legal malpractice actions, claims of breach of fiduciary duties, insurance defense bad faith claims, and employment related controversies. Stephen Strauss represents attorneys and attorney applicants before the State Bar Court, defending against allegations of misconduct and advising attorneys during the course of State Bar investigations.

Diane Karpman is admitted to all the Courts in the State of California, all the California Federal District Courts, the 9th Circuit, and the United States Supreme Court. Diane is the appointed legal ethics consultant in a Los Angeles Superior Court class action, and specializes in advising lawyers on the unique duties involved in representative litigation.

JoAnne Robbins has been involved with legal ethics and the attorney disciplinary system at the State Bar of California for more than twenty-six years. She was a deputy trial counsel (prosecutor) for the Office of Trial Counsel. In 1989, she was appointed by the Supreme Court of California as a Hearing Judge of the State Bar Court. She served as a Hearing Judge for the State Bar Court for more than six years, handling more than one thousand cases. The firm's mission is to facilitate lawyers in achieving success within the boundaries of their ethical obligations.
